These were used in trains of six or more vehicles, along with a BSK, on longer distance services, such as those operated between London Waterloo and Exeter, usually in the hands of an English Electric Class 50 from the launch of NSE ā for which two locomotives were specially repainted into the striking new livery ā and the early 1990s when they were replaced by Class 47s."
