76XJS007 Jaguar XJS Grosvenor Brown

76XJS007 Jaguar XJS Grosvenor Brown

Jaguar Cars of Coventry produced the Jaguar XJS between 1975 and 1996 with several modifications along the way. Ā Jaguar based the car on the XJ saloon and its stylish appearance included the innovative rear ā€˜flying buttresses’ aerodynamics and its starfish wheel hubs which appeared on later models. Powered by a 5.3 litre V12 engine, the 2-door XJ-S coupé, classed as a luxury sports car, came with the initial choice of either a manual or automatic gearbox. The automatic version achieved 60 mph in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 143 mph. The manual option was subsequently phased out. From the 1990s a small modification included a slight model name change, omitting the hyphen between XJ and S and from then on, the Jaguar was known as the XJS. Ā

Oxford’s 1:76 scale replica is modelled on the 2-door coupé version registered RWL 677X from 1981.

It is decorated in a rich brown with a gold streak along the complete length of the streamlined car. The front spoiler, C pillars and bumper trims are black, relieved by silver to the front grille, window trims and the wheels. Ā Inside, the seats are moulded in a pale muted green with contrasting black dashboard. The model also features interesting rear light clusters in red and orange with two further red lights embedded into the rear bumper – just like the real thing.
